A Geely profile

Founded in 1986, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group came into the car industry in 1997. Over the years, it has achieved a rapid development through technological innovation and talent training. The total assets of the company have exceeded100 billion yuan, making Geely one of China’s top 500 companies for ten consecutive years and top 10 auto manufactures for eight consecutive years. Geely is honored as the “Most Innovative Enterprise in China” and “Complete Vehicle Export Base in China”. In July 2012, with a total operating income of $ 23,36 billion (about 150 billion yuan), Geely entered the Global 500, the only homegrown automobile manufacturer ever shortlisted in China.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, Geely has set up complete vehicle and powertrain manufacturing bases in Linhai, Ningbo and Luqiao, Lanzhou, Xiangtan, Jinan and Chengdu. It also established R&D center and manufacturing factories of Drivetrain Systems International (DSI) automatic transmissions in Australia. Geely has developed more than 10 car models under three product brands - Emgrand, Gleagle and Englon, as well as a full range of engines from 1.0L to 2.4L and manual or automatic transmissions to match them. Now, the company has nearly 1,000 4S shops and service stations at home as well as nearly 200 overseas sales and service outlets. By the end of 2012, more than 2.7 million cars wheeling across China are made by the company and Geely is recognized as a famous trademark in China.

Geely has established Geely Automobile Technology Center and Geely Automobile Research Institute in Hangzhou and Linhai of Zhejiang province, and built up strong capacity of developing complete vehicles, engines, transmissions and automotive electronics. The Geely Panda, Emgrand EC7 and Emgrand EC8 were awarded five-star rating in C-NCPA. Emgrand EC7 got a four star rating in Euro-NCAP. Its first SUV the GX7 was given a five-plus-star rating with 50.3 points in C-NCAP. The independently developed 4G18CVVT engine, with a power output of 57.2kw per liter, is up to leading standards worldwide. The self developed Z automatic transmissions filled the gap in domestic automobile field and won the first prize for progress in automobile science and technology. Geely has won over 8,000 patents, including over 1,000 patents for inventions and over 40 international patents. Geely is listed as one of China’s ten independent innovation of intellectual property rights brands and is honored as national level “corporate technical center” “postdoctoral workstation” and “high-tech enterprise”.

Geely has over 18,000 employees, including over 2,300 engineers and technicians, three academicians, dozens of foreign experts, 30 doctors, 500 postgraduates, hundreds of senior engineers. Among them, five have been selected into the “National Thousand Talents Program”, which distinguishes Geely from other private-run enterprises.
