The Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup is the first one-make series from the brand with four rings. Set up in 2012, the sprint series remains the first and only brand cup worldwide to feature full-spec GT3 race cars. Joining the series staple Audi R8 LMS GT3 on the grid in 2018 is the newly released Audi R8 LMS GT4 race car in its own category as the Cup launches into its seventh season.
Featuring action-packed racing, continuous innovations and a premium hospitality programme, the Cup will also visit some of the world’s most iconic motorsport events in 2018 as well as Asia’s leading circuits in its 11-race, five-event calendar.
Also new in 2019: the Cup will feature an exclusively privateer line-up of drivers, with open data and professional Audi Sport mentors joining at every race weekend. In this way the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup offers an open, welcoming, premium platform for gentleman drivers to develop.
Unique prizes are also on offer in the Cup, with the overall GT3 champion receiving a special ‘Cup edition’ Audi R8 production car. Not only that, in 2019 the Cup launched its own ‘Road to Spa’ programme whereby the overall highest points-scorer in each country that the Cup visits (Australia, Germany, China and Malaysia) will win a fully-supported seat on a four-driver Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup team for the 2019 Total 24 Hours of Spa. Along with this, the top 3 overall finishers in the GT4 category will receive parts vouchers starting at 50,000 Euros.
The all-privateer line-up in the Cup is part of a dual strategy from Audi Sport customer racing Asia, which will also enter top-line professional line-ups into Asia’s leading multi-brand motorsport series.
Audi Sport customer racing Asia offers motorsport enthusiasts a full range of services, from sports car experiences to race license courses and race–ready, arrive and drive packages for Audi Sport customer racing’s portfolio of race cars.
